The Sponsor License is the mandatory prerequisite for all employers that seek to hire foreign nationals in their UK based organisation. This license allows you to issue Certificate of Sponsorship to your desired candidate, who can then use it to obtain a work visa like Skilled worker etc. Sponsor license is also required for universities or schools that wish to enrol foreign students and offer them a place on course at their campuses in the UK. Unlike the former expiry rule of four years, after 6 April 2024 this license remains valid and auto renews for 10 years, however you must comply with the Sponsor duties or else it can be revoked or suspended.

Eligibility:

Any entity that is applying for a Sponsorship License must have:

A genuine, lawful operation in the UK that is registered at Companies House
A reliable HR personnel within their organisation that looks over the duties & responsibilities of bearing Sponsor License and ensures the compliance regularly
As regards the personnel you must appoint upfront an Authorising Officer, Key contact and Level 1 & 2 users within your organisation for their respective roles bonded with the Sponsorship management.
Definite count of Defined/Undefined CoS you are going to need in the following year
Type of License you are going to apply for (Worker or Temporary Worker)
No former revoked license history in the last 12 months.
